After getting our fill of crab and other tasty options, we topped it off with coffee (which was brewed fresh when we ordered) and dessert. The buffet was replenished with fresh food regularly, even at 8:45 pm, just before closing. Our waiter was very attentive, refilling beverages and bringing various condiments and extra napkins, and removing used dishes as soon as we set them aside. They have a nice bar menu with mixed drinks, wine and beer. The buffet included a salad bar, fried chicken, fish, shrimp, oysters and scallops, steamed snow crab legs, clams, crawfish and shrimp, macaroni and cheese, various other sides, and an array of desserts. The place is sprawling with several dining rooms, so tables were well distanced. Patrons were required to wear masks at the buffet, and apply hand sanitizer and gloves before approaching the buffet. For a buffet, this place was clean and well managed. This one was off the main tourist strip and had good reviews so we decided to go for it. While visiting VA Beach, we searched Yelp for dinner options, hoping to find a nice seafood spot. Maybe it was because we showed up as soon as they opened (it was Father's day and we didn't want to wait in a huge line), and so maybe the food had been prepped and sitting for a while? Other than that, I would highly recommend ANY Captain George's locations. The reason for not giving 5 stars as I usually would, is that for some reason, this location didn't taste as good as the others I've been to (Williamsburg, OBX, Myrtle beach). Our drinks were never empty (they filled any time it wasn't 100% full. If you're not a huge seafood person (like my boyfriend), they have plenty of non seafood options as well. My all time favorite are the snow crab legs! They always have a bunch, and rarely ever run out (like most other buffets). Clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp, oysters, etc. A bit pricier, but totally worth it.Ĭaptain Georges (as a chain) has every seafood you can think of.
